Tonya's Academy of Dance
Mission Statement:
Dance is an incredible extra-curricular activity for your child to develop grace, poise, and self-confidence. It is also a great and
fun way of involving your child in a physical fitness program.

We are so glad that you as a parent have chosen Tonya’s Academy of Dance and are allowing us to influence your child in a
number of positive ways.

It is the mission of Tonya’s Academy of Dance to provide a professional dance education program while building a
relationship with your child that will last a lifetime.

Attire for Class:
Ballet students should have pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Tap and Jazz students should have suntan tights and shoes
specified by Miss Tonya. Any color leotard is acceptable. However, sometimes the more conservative ones are better for
class because they do not cause distraction. Jazz pants are only allowed in Jazz and as a cover up. Jazz pants should not be
worn for ballet. Jewelry is not allowed, it is dangerous and a distraction, however, small earrings are okay. Hair must be up for
class and gum is not allowed.

Visitors:
All classes are closed to visitors. The students benefit more from their dance education when their focus is on the instructor.
We do have a designated observation week in December.

Termination of Classes & Costume Deposits:
If your child decides to terminate dance education during the year you should call or write the academy so that charges can be
stopped.  Costumes will be ordered early in the year with the first deposit due in October, and is not refundable. Additional
deposits are due in November, and the balance is due in January.

Tuition:
Tuition is due on or before the 10th of each month and can be paid at Leaps & Bounds or by mail. There is also a drop box
located in the lobby of the studio. A late fee of $10.00 will be  added to your monthly tuition if not paid by the 20th of each
month. There will be a $25.00 fee for all returned checks.

Newsletters:
Newsletters will go out monthly or as needed to give you the most current information. This information will be e-mailed to the
e-mail address provided at registration. There will also be a newsletter scrolling on the TV in the lobby. If you do not have e-
mail or access to e-mail, please make sure someone goes to the lobby at least every other week to view this information.  It is
your responsibility to inquire and make sure you have the newsletters and the newest information. You may also view the
newsletter online at:
www.tonyasacademy.com.

Restroom Reminder:
Please remind your child to use the restroom before class. We do allow children to go to the restroom; however, it takes time
away from their dance education and sometimes causes a chain reaction with the other students.

Label Clothing:
Please label anything you bring with you to the academy with your name. If your name is in everything, and you leave
something at the academy, we can see that it gets back to you.

Lobby:
It is very important that the voice level in the lobby never be over a whisper. It is distracting for instructors and students while in
class to hear noise from the lobby. Please keep small children from running in the lobby and hallway. Thank you for your
cooperation.

Student Drop-off & Pick-up:
With the academy being located on the upper level on a busy street in North Wilkesboro, the safety of our students is a
concern. Please make sure your children know to come directly to the studio when they are dropped off and to wait for you
inside the door downstairs if you plan on driving by to pick them up. We simply cannot have students walking around on the
street. If your child is under 10, they should be walked upstairs, and have someone come upstairs to pick them up. Tonya’s
Academy of Dance is only responsible for students during class time.

Private Classes:
Private classes are available for students needing one on one help or getting ready for a pageant, competition, or tryout.
Miss Tonya has a very busy schedule so private classes need to be made prior to your event to guarantee availability.

Attendance:
Attendance is very important. Please help your child to receive the most from their dance education by being present and
punctual. They should also be in proper attire and have hair up and ready for class to begin.

Questions & Concerns:
If you have questions or concerns please e-mail Miss Tonya at info@Tonyasacademy.com.  Class time is very important and
instructors cannot be taken away from their classes to have a discussion.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your children.
